The origin of the AGRO Group is a small company called Anneliese Grothaus e.K. that has been founded in 1948 producing handcrafted cylindrical innersprings for the regional furniture industry in Barkhausen near Osnabrück. Even today, having operated internationally with success for more than three decades, the company is still deeply rooted in its place of origin and in the hands of the owners, the Grothaus family, with the third generation now in the business.
Since 2006, AGRO Holding has taken responsibility for developing and implementing overall corporate strategy as well as shared resources and administrative functions. Meanwhile its subsidiaries work the market from eight locations: from the headquarters in Bad Essen (Germany), from Szamotuly in Poland, from Munguia and Martos in Spain, from Windsor/Connecticut and a distribution center in Memphis / Tennessee (USA), from Barranquilla (Colombia) and finally its latest location in Halberstadt / Germany.
The core business of AGRO has traditionally been the production of innersprings for the mattress and upholstery industry. This has been successfully expanded since 2004 with the production of steel wire and tools as well as machinery replacement parts. In 2022, AGRO started producing its own spunbond nonwoven in addition. These activities support both the Group’s own innerspring production but also external customers from a range of different sectors.
Thus deep and valuable cross-functional know-how guarantees the highest level of quality and expert advice to the customer. Furthermore the fact that large amounts of the supply chain are realised from within the group and with extremely short distances ensures a high level of reliability, flexibility and efficiency.
